The 6th edition of the Arab Cultural Fesival in Korea

Now, a culture is not only about giving, but also about taking. This extra cultural exchange is what I like the most about Korea. A new event linking Korea to the Arab world is taking place from the 5^th to the 9^th of June 2013. It is the Arab Cultural Festival in its 6^th edition. The new about this session is the Film festival that will be included this year. In menu 9 between films and documentaries will be displayed in the Art 9 movie theater in Sadong-dong, in southern Seoul near Lsu Station.

I can recommend you the movie God’s Horses (신의 전사들) from Morocco to his director Nabil Ayouch. This was displayed during the last session of JCC (les journaux cinematographiqes de Carthage/ Carthage Film Festival) where it won the prize of International Criticism (2012) and two days ago I watched it as it came back to the Tunisian movie theaters for the European film festival taking place now in Tunisia. I liked it. It is about the 2003 Casablanca bombings. It won the 1^st prize of Seminci (Valladolid International Film Festival) in 2012 and the prize François Chalais in the section “Un certain regard” (a certain glance) of the Cannes Film Festival, 2012.

At second level, I recommend the battle of Algeria (알제리 전투) which is a documentary and the Tunisian Militants (투사들) which is also a documentary.

According to KBS World Radio Arabic, the festival will also be taking place in Busan where Arabic movies will be displayed starting the 25th to the 30th of June. 

[k-pop festival] Updates on the K-pop World festival, Tunisia preliminary

There have been, lately,  updates on the organization of the K-pop World festival, Tunisia preliminary.

The news come from the Facebook page of the Korean embassy in Tunisia and it is about mainly 2 important points: place and time.

So the new place for the event is the Tunisia Grand Hotel (Menzah 7), and the date is Sunday, 30th of June 2013, at 6 pm. 

The following poster was also shared. (although a little bit a fail).

The reason for this change is mostly because of the number of attendees that is estimated to excel the all-seater capacity of the Theater. 

Now, from my point of view, I would prefer the National Theater for his national, cultural and historical values. Apart from the luxurious and beautiful hotel, the theater would be a great opportunity for the performers, Lunafly but especially both the korean and tunisian cultures. 

Too bad, but I believe that LG has chosen to give the opportunity for more fans to enjoy the show which is a good point also.

Now, I want to share an other news here. Although, nothing official has been relased yet, Lunafly has releaser a notice the 28th of Mai, talking about a fanmeeting. This fanmeeting would probably take place one day before the festival.

[contest]Global Essay Competition for Seoul Conference on Cyberspace 2013

Global Essay Competition for Seoul Conference on Cyberspace 2013 is a special competition, hosted by Korea’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MOFA), Korea Information Society Development Institute(KISDI), and Center for International Studies of Yonsei University for youth aged from 18 to 32 across the world. The event forms a crucial part of the Seoul Conference on Cyberspace 2013 (the SeoulCyber 2013); the awards ceremony will be held at the SeoulCyber 2013 Youth Forum scheduled on 2 September 2013 at the Yonsei University, Korea. The aims of the competition are twofold: firstly, to encourage ambitious and talented students all over the world to demonstrate their own ideas on a set of ongoing cyberspace issues; and secondly, to foster their capacities on the purpose of coping with a wide variety of (inter)national cyber threats.

Candidates are invited to submit an essay of between 1,500 and 2,000 words (excluding footnotes and references) on one of the three questions below. 

1. Internet as an engine for economic growth and social/cultural benefit (economic growth and social/cultural benefits)

2. Securing yourself from cyber threats (cybersecurity) 

3. Towards a shared prosperity (capacity building) 

Candidates are invited to submit an essay of between 1,500 and 2,000 words (excluding footnotes and references) on one of the three questions below.

[event]K-Pop World Festival-Tunisia Preliminary

I'll spare you my nag about my long absense and go strait to the point.

Some big news has, few days, been spread around the web in Tunisia and of course it is not up to the Tunisian community of KPOP fans to miss it. Me neither actually :-p

Anyway, the BIG news is nothing else than the Korean Band Lunafly (루나플라이)coming to Tunisia. 

So it is party time. 

Now let me tell some details about this event. 

1st of all, the news was introduced on Lunafly's facebook page.

As mentioned on the Facebook notice, Lunafly is comong to Tunisia in order to participate in the Tunisian preselection session of Participants in the "KPOP WORLD Festival 2013" that will take pace in Changwon City on October 20, 2013. 

In fact the 25th of April, the Ministry of foreign Affaires of the republic of Korea launched this event by calling overseas diplomatic missions and cultural centers of the Republic of Korea to hold regional preliminary competitions to select teams for their host countries, who will later take part in the final round in ROK. 

So the Korean Embassy in Tunisia has answered the call and launched -for the big suprise of tunisian fans of K-pop- its own preliminary selectoon competetion. 

According to the details delivered by the MOFA's site (in french and in korean), the competition is conducted as follow:

Title : k-pop World Festival Competition preliminaries in Tunisia

1. Content: evaluation of performances of dance and sing of 13 teams selected according to their submitted videos and awards.
2. Date and time: Monday the 1^st of Jully at 7pm.
3. Place: the municipality theater of Tunis.
4. Promoter: the Korean Embassy in Tunisia
5. Sponsor: TG
6. Awards:

•        1^st price: (1^st team) a trip to Korea for 2 persons (in August)
•        2nd price: (1^st team) other prices attributed by LG.

1. Criteria of selection: Dancing or singing abilities.
2. Additional requirements:

• To be Tunisian,
• The team shall not have more than 5 members,
• The video shall not exceed 5 minutes maximum,
• Deadline to submit the video by uploading it online here by filling in the application form is 20^th of June 2013.
• The preselected teams will be announced the 24^th of June 2013.
